Investment savings

Investment business saved 40% on flying annually

An investment business with multiple partners asked IWA to review and consolidate its flying, for both business and personal purposes. Over 12 months, IWA renegotiated the client’s existing contracts with two major fractional providers, as well as taking advantage of ad hoc charter for many of their flights. This reduced the client’s flying costs by over 40%, while affording the team a chance to trial the charter market and specific operators.

IWA subsequently overhauled the client’s private aviation. IWA placed 60% of flying on a bespoke block hours deal on an aircraft the client enjoyed chartering, 20% was retained by a fractional provider and the remaining 20% in the ad hoc charter market.

Managed Aircraft Acquisitions for existing client

IWA was asked by an existing client to assist them in purchasing several aircrafts to facilitate their increasing aviation needs.

Working closely with the client, IWA analysed the market, putting together a programme of suitable acquisitions. IWA sourced all the aircraft, managed all elements of the purchase process for the first aircraft (7X) and liaised with all necessary parties on behalf of the client. IWA facilitated all aspects of the first aircraft’s entry into service (interviewing and appointing flight crew, management company etc) and was appointed Owner Representative. Furthermore, interim solutions were negotiated by and put in place by IWA with program providers, to provide interim and supplemental lift before and after the delivery of the new aircraft.

Additionally, IWA was retained to both purchase and facilitate the entry to service of two additional aircraft for the client.

Bespoke private aviation solution for a VC company

A venture capital company came to IWA looking for a solution to their experience of an unreliable and chaotic charter market. IWA undertook a detailed analysis of the client’s private aviation needs, exploring all options including fractional ownership, leasing and potential aircraft ownership.

Focusing on the client’s desire for cost visibility and better flexibility alongside a consistent quality experience, IWA was able to determine the most appropriate solution for the client.

IWA was then able to negotiate a bespoke programme with a fractional provider that was specifically tailored to the varied aviation needs of the client.

€2.3m in savings for global investment management firm

€2.3m in savings for global investment management firm

A global investment management firm with international travel needs requested an independent review of their flying and current solution. After analysing several years of flying patterns, IWA suggested distributing specific flights within a small network of highly regarded fractional aircraft operators and was able to deliver significant immediate, and ongoing, savings.

IWA renewed 100 hours of flying with one leading fractional provider with more advantageous commercial terms based on the client’s actual flying patterns. IWA distributed the remaining flights across another provider and a small pool of carefully selected charter operators that met pre-agreed safety standards and selected the best operator to place each flight with for maximum cost efficiency.

Evolving solutions for a long-term IWA client

A global art and media group, and long term client of IWA, has seen a dramatic increase in their private aviation demand post pandemic.

As a result of IWA’s in depth understanding of the client’s flying patterns and private aviation needs IWA was able to advise on the most beneficial fractional and lease options available. At the same time, when it was most aligned with the client’s requirements, IWA was able to utilise the ad hoc charter market.

As a result, over a period of just 9 months, IWA was able to deliver cost savings of over €1.2m to the client.

Multinational Corporation saves €4m

major multinational corporation (and existing client) engaged IWA to review their fractional ownership contracts and make recommendations for reducing costs, while maintaining the same high level of service and safety. IWA ran a full analysis and supported internal procurement and legal teams to complete contracts.

As a result, IWA successfully delivered savings of over €4m. The corporation has retained IWA for the life of their contracts.

Five-year flying review saved £1m in savings for family office

Managed 7X purchase from start to finish for Asset Manager

IWA was asked by a UK-based Asset Manager to analyse its 300-hour flying solutions across two fractional providers, propose alternatives and model ownership across a range of aircraft. IWA’s accurate cost forecast showed a $10k savings per hour by purchasing an aircraft.

IWA was then retained to select a 7X, negotiate and complete the purchase, select a management company and interview and appoint crew. Since concluding the acquisition, the client has retained IWA as their Owner Representative.

Five-year flying review saved £1m in savings for family office

IWA presented a detailed report that segmented all trips and costs over the course of a five year period for a family office. IWA then showed all valuable alternatives in the market to benchmark against the client’s current solution with a leading fractional provider.

Through this research, IWA negotiated with the client’s provider to deliver £1m in savings. IWA did this by restructuring existing contracts to reduce capital commitment, but not flying capacity, maximising unused hours to deliver value going forward and achieving an increased fair market value on aircraft shares that were repurchased.

Bespoke solution for a high-profile family

IWA has significantly reduced the costs of a high-profile family with security measures, moving from multiple brokers to one single point of contact. Using a small group of trusted operators, IWA eliminated brokerage fees and commissions, as well as introducing bespoke flexibility when needed.

The client and their financial team now have a much clearer picture of their future aviation needs and costs. IWA put together a long-term solution comprising hours on a fractional provider, providing guaranteed availability, preferential one way pricing and no cancellation fees, as well as ad hoc charters for weekend trips, capitalising on empty legs and using local experienced partners outside of major flying zones.
